Shows I’d Like To See As Live TV Musicals

Like most of the Broadway community, I was pretty hyped up about NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar this week. And it was good! I’m hoping they film all musicals as concerts from here on out. I really enjoyed it (and I’ve never seen JCS before – what?). There are so many musicals I’d like to see them put on as live TV specials, that I think they could do something really special with. Here are just a few:

Why I Think Game of Thrones Would Make an Interesting Musical

Here me out! I think Game of Thrones would be an amazing musical (I might be going through Game of Thrones withdrawal). I know that all of the Game of Thrones musicals out there are parodies, and there are WAAAAAAY too many movie-based musicals out there now, but I think Game of Thrones, particularly the first book/series, could potentially soar above the rest (with the right writers, of course). Top 5 Best Disney Stage Musicals (according to me)

So this is going to be my last blog for a few weeks (I’ll be back). I’m leaving for vacation in a week, and things are going to be hectic. Feel free to follow me over on Twitter (@edohertyauthor) for all of the vacation fun.

Oscar Winners as Broadway Performers

Do you ever envision Hollywood’s top movies as musicals? And then picture your favorite Broadway actors and actresses in the lead roles?  No? Just me? Well, okay then. It’s a fun, sometimes infuriating habit I have. This year, I thought I’d share who I would cast in the inevitable Broadway musicals of the winning movies. So without further ado, the winning Oscar performances, cast for Broadway musicals.

Beauty and the Beast: A Broadway Dreamcast

I’m going to do something a little bit different this time. This is going to be the first in my series of Broadway dreamcasts. I love Broadway, and I love dreamcasting, so I figure this is a perfect fit. Today’s dreamcast is Beauty and the Beast. I saw a touring production of it back when I was in junior high school, but more importantly, the movie happens to be my favorite. With all of the hubub about the remake, I thought I’d cast my dream Broadway performers in the roles I picture them in.

Best Broadway Overtures

For my inaugural post on my new website, I decided I would talk about overtures. Overtures set the tone for the movie or the musical or whatever, just like I am (hoping) this post sets the tone for this website. Maybe. I don’t know. So I present to you: My favorite musical overtures (just three this time, no order, because I know there will be more).
