Imagine, if you will, that there was a Broadway version of Celebrity Lip Sync Battle. Celebrities (Broadway or otherwise) face off and try to make us laugh to some of our favorite Broadway songs. Here are a few choices that I think would be pretty great if such a thing were to exist.
- “Trouble” from The Music Man – This is the one that made me think of this blog. It’s such a great patter song. If someone could lip sync all of those words, I’d vote for them in a heartbeat. They could even go into the audience to get them involved. IMAGINE.
- “Rainbow High” from Evita – I will admit that I got this idea from a YouTube video of this song being lip synced. But can you imagine someone (a guy in drag?) pretending to be Patti LuPone? Continuously changing extravagant costumes? There’s a lot of laugh opportunity there.
- “Great Big Stuff” from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – Talk about an opportunity for a production number. If someone could get down Norbert Leo Butz’s dance moves down, then this one would be hard to beat.
- “Let It Go” from Frozen – This is almost Broadway, so it counts. This one has been done more than once, and can’t you see why? Angst and belting. Iconic costume. It’s just calling for another interpretation.
What Broadway song would you lip sync?
