In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought that for today’s blog, I’d write a list of some of a few of my favorite literary pairings of all time. Since love is in the air and all that, this has been a fun one to visit.
Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy – It took me a while to jump onto the boat with this one, though I feel like I should have a lot sooner. This is the ultimate hate-to-love relationship. They both learn so much from each other and are able to grow. It’s the kind of relationship (and pay off) that I hope to emulate in my writing.
Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley – Okay. I realize that this one is controversial, but whatever. I love Ron and Hermione. I think that, once they got over their idiot kid phase (because let’s be real, everyone has an idiot kid phase), they ultimately brought out the best in each other. She made him grow up, he made sure she could relax from time to time. And also, it’s nice to see the sidekick get the (incredibly amazing) girl for once.
Bex Porter and Prince Nick – If you’re not familiar with them, they are from The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. Now you know, go get the book! It’s no secret that I adore this novel. I guess the prince-meets-normal-girl trope has always been one of my favorites. But what makes this book stand out above the rest is it’s real. They are dorky and sweet and friends first. It’s a relationship I can’t help but swoon over every time I read the book.
