Later this week, I’m going to Boston. It’s not an entirely new city. I went there once when I was 12, but I can barely remember it. So for all intents and purposes, this is going to feel like a brand new city to me. And I’m excited, because it’s been a long time since I’ve experienced a new city. Here’s what I’m looking forward to:
- Walking the streets – When I spent time in Paris, my favorite day was when we wandered the streets, without an idea of where we were going. It’s the best way to take in the character of a city, I feel. It makes you feel like you’re part of it.
- Finding places to eat – Don’t you love discovering new restaurants? There’s so much anticipation about the food and the decor. I like doing this in my own town. In another city, it’s on a whole other scale.
- Finding the perfect souvenir – I’m a tourist. I’ve come to terms with that fact. I always like to find the perfect gift to remember my time in the city. It takes days for me, and a lot of work, but I always find something.
- Spending time with the people I love – I love traveling because it’s something I get to do with my family and friends. It’s something we can share, we can make memories with. And that’s the best part of a new city.
Got any tips for me in Boston?
