Hello fellow bloggers!
After an unexpectedly long summer hiatus, I am back! And better than ever. Even dealing with a heat wave and no AC.
I’ll be back with real blogs next week, so what topics would you like to see?
And how was your summer?
Yesterday, I was writing an intense “will-they-or-won’t-they” breakup scene, and I found myself listening to a lot of Broadway showtunes while I did. There’s something that comes from a heartfelt ballad and a belting voice that you can’t get anywhere else. So here is what it inspired. The best Broadway breakup songs to write to.
Are you new to my blog? Welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay. If you’re looking to get to know me a little bit better, here are some recent highlights from my blog. Read them and comment. I’d love to get to know my followers a little bit better!
Every person I talked to told me that it is key for authors to start a blog. And more than that, it is key for authors to have a blog with a BRAND. A reason for people to keep coming back for more. I’ve been searching for my brand for years now. Every time I think I’ve found it, I figure out something else I want to blog about. So far, my brand is: lists. Not even good lists. Silly lists. Stupid lists. Maybe I do need to find a bran to stick to. I’m not sure yet. But I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Do I want to…
I’ve participated in (and won) NaNoWriMo four times. In fact, I’m working on self-publishing one of those novels right now. The past two NaNos, I’ve been working a full-time teaching job while trying to complete the challenge. It is stressful and crazy and hard, but it’s also one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. Below the cut is my advice to anyone wanting to be a NaNoWriMo superstar while working a full-time job.
According to an amateur writer, anyway.
There are days (usually when I’m having a bad or tiring day) that I find updating my blog to be tedious. Do you ever get that way? I’d rather be reading or writing or rewatching Game of Thrones for the 3rd time. But I’ve committed to this blog, and I’m not one to give up on commitment. Maybe I just need a little incentive. So without further ado, I’ve come up with my personal dream blogging incentives.
If you haven’t been following this blog, you don’t know that I am about to move for a new teaching job, and I’m about to start a whole new phase in my life. Because of that, I don’t have much time to blog. So this blog is like when your favorite TV show is on a break and you see a rerun. It’s a rerun blog. Enjoy some of my favorite posts I have made in the past. And hopefully I will return next week!
