Weren’t the Tonys great this year? It’s my favorite award show of all, so much joy and music and talent. I watch faithfully every year. So of course I watched on Sunday (and am still tired to prove it). So without further ado, I present some of my favorite moments from the 2018 Tony Awards:

The opening number – What a pleasant reminder of what the Broadway community is. It’s nice to remember that there’s more to Broadway than the winners. And to showcase the hardworking ensemble members! Plus, how adorable were Josh and Sara? They were all night.

Once on this Island’s performance – I have no other way to describe it than effervescent joy. It brought all the spirit of the show and put it on the Tony stage. I couldn’t stop smiling.

Impromptu happy birthdays – How cute was John Tiffany’s speech? Getting the whole audience to sing happy birthday to his boyfriend? It was so adorable. It would have embarrassed me and made me so happy at the same time.

The magic – I mean the actual magic. Sara’s improv when her effect went late, Josh turning into Harry Potter (did you see the scars on his hand? THE DETAIL!). I was so happy they showed off a little of the magic we see onstage.

Parkland Students – I have so many more favorite moments from this year, but nothing can top this beautiful, bittersweet performance. I cry just thinking about it.
